Special flavour
Spelt is a fine grain and is one of the oldest grains of all. Almost forgotten for a long time, it has now been rediscovered in bakeries and pastry shops and is enjoying a comeback on our plates. And quite rightly so! This is because spelt is somewhat milder in terms of tolerance than its grain brothers and gives every pastry a special flavour.
Reason enough for us to create a recipe with spelt for our Elisen Lebkuchen as well - if you like spelt pastry, you must try them. If not - then even more so!
As usual, we have used only the finest ingredients for the dough: selected nuts, best cocoa, peel of untreated lemons. We then spread this delicious dough on fresh wafers. After baking, our Spelt Elisen Bars still receive their crowning glory: Either a coating of crunchy chocolate or a sugar glaze.
