Manuka honey: This is a very special organic honey speciality from New Zealand, which is harvested and bottled for us. What makes this honey so special? Could it be that the manuka bush from which the bees collect their nectar only blooms for a few weeks a year? Or the exceptionally high proportion of methylglyoxal, a naturally occurring antibacterial compound that is said to have a particularly positive effect on well-being and health?
The Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, recognised the power of Manuka honey. By regularly drinking the liquid gold, they strengthened their immune system and treated minor wounds, which healed better thanks to the antibacterial effect of methylglyoxal.
The manuka honey in our range comes from Steven Brown's apiary in the Canterbury Highlands, not far from Christchurch. The whole family there looks after the bees in a sustainable way. The honey is free from chemicals, pesticides or other artificial substances - pure organic quality for your breakfast table.
