Like from the grandma in East Westphalia
It is Sunday afternoon, family or friends have gathered in your dining room and there is delicious steaming coffee. And you would like to serve a special pastry, fine in flavour and especially in production. We have an idea for you: our Walnut Striezel, a delicious speciality from East Westphalia, especially for marzipan fans.
The base is a sophisticated combination of yeast dough and puff pastry, which we cover by hand with a fine marzipan-butter mixture and many candied walnuts for Lebkuchen-Schmidt and then roll up into a Striezel. A delicious layer of crumble is placed on top and after baking, the walnut Striezel is sprinkled with icing sugar. This not only looks appealing, but also gives the Striezel the finishing touch in terms of taste.
The light dough and the incomparable nutty taste make our Westphalian Striezel a favourite among our fine pastries. Try it out! And if you are in the mood for fruit, then we recommend our Blueberry-Striezel. Both together on the cake plate are simply perfect!
